David Gilmour : Book Your Slot Now For A Preview OF David’s Guitar Collection At Christie’s London Ahead Of The Auction
In June 2019 Christies’ New York is handling the upcoming sale of David Gilmours personal guitar collection.
The auction will feature over 120 guitars including the legendary Black Strat which has been the staple of his entire Pink Floyd and solo career.
Ahead of the auction the entire collection of more than 120 instruments will be on display at Christie’s London between the 27th – 31st March, followed by a highlight display of the collection in Los Angeles from the 7th – 11th May, This will then conclude with an entire display ahead of the auction from the 14th – 19th June. Estimates on these instruments range from $300 to $150.000 with all proceeds benefiting charitable causes.

Nick Mason : New Article With Classic Rock : Nick Gives Up On Pink Floyd Reunion
Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, whose Saucerful Of Secrets tour of North America kicks off tonight in Vancouver (dates below), says he’s given up waiting for a Pink Floyd reunion.
“After 20-something years, I was absolutely tired of waiting for the phone to ring with Roger or David going ‘C’mon guys, let’s get the band back together,’” Mason told AZ Central. “I thought, ‘Forget that. It’s not gonna happen.’ I really got to the point where I thought I could never work again.“
In December last year, Mason told Rolling Stone, “I live in hope. I mean, I don’t think we’re going to tour as Pink Floyd again. But it would seem silly at this stage of our lives to still be fighting.“
And while the drummer now thinks it’s unlikely that Pink Floyd will ever reunite, he remains on good terms with the other members.
“I thought it would be sort of a courtesy to tell them both what I was doing,” Mason says of his current project. “And they were great. Roger threatened to come down and play some time. I think one day David might do the same. He lent me loads of equipment that we needed to go out. So they were both great, actually.“to music.

David Gilmour : New Interview With Prog Magazine Issue 96
The UK’s Prog Magzine have recently announced a brand new issue number 96 which has started to be distributed to subscribers already and will be officialy available in UK stores from Tuesday 5th March 2019.
What makes this article diffrent to every other magazine? The magazine has a new, and exclusive, interview with David Gilmour as the cover feature, in which he discusses selling most of his guitars and what the future holds for both Floyd and him as a solo artist. The interview finds David in a reflective mood, talking about certain key instruments, as well as pondering on the process of creating a new album, and all the hoopla that goes with that sort of project.
There’s also an in depth look at David’s solo career in a separate feature, that includes other prog guitarists such as Steve Howe, Martin Barre, Steve Hackett and more, choosing their favourite Gilmour guitar solos.
Pink Floyd : ‘Saucerful of Secrets’ Mono Mix Reissue for Record Store Day
Pink Floyd will reissue the mono mix of their second album A Saucerful of Secrets as a vinyl release for Record Store Day, April 13th.
Unlike the Beatles or Rolling Stones, the band transitioned to stereo fairly quickly, making this one of the rare albums in their catalog that originally came out in mono. The audio was remastered from the original 1968 mono mix by James Guthrie, Joel Plante and Bernie Grundman. The limited edition, 180-gram LP, housed in a “faithful reproduction” of the original sleeve, will come out on the group’s own Pink Floyd Records.
The record marks a pivotal moment in the band’s career, as it’s the only release to feature both founding guitarist, Syd Barrett, and his replacement, David Gilmour. As Barrett became unreliable at concerts, the group decided to eject him from the lineup. Barrett’s only songwriting offering to Saucerful is its closing track, “Jugband Blues,” for which he supplied the vocals; he also played guitar on “Remember a Day” and “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun.” He’d previously written the majority of Piper at the Gates of Dawn, which came out as a mono vinyl release on Record Store Day last year.
In a 2016 interview with Rolling Stone, Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason said he’s changed his mind about the prevailing theories of why Barrett became erratic. For decades, rock mythology has suggested that Barrett had become an acid casualty and got lost in the music.
“Looking back on it, there’s no doubt that LSD exacerbated the state, but I think perhaps what was happening was Syd had realized he didn’t want to be in a rock band at all,” the drummer said. “He’d done that, decided it wasn’t really what he wanted to do and probably wanted to go back to art school, but he couldn’t find a way of getting out of it. Certainly, we couldn’t believe that anyone didn’t want to be in a rock band. So I think when he was messing around with the songs, like ‘Jugband Blues,’ I think he almost did it as a whim, thinking it would be another really peculiar thing, whereas actually I think the song has an extraordinary edge. I think what was going on was Syd really was trying to leave.”
