Today we are remembering Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright on what would have been his 79th birthday.
As part of the latest promotion campaign to support Pink Floyd’s “Hey Hey Rise Up“, a new song that has been written and curated to show support to those affected by the current situation in Ukraine.
A video for the B-side single, “A Great Day For Freedom,” has just premiered online in which it features a new version of the 1994 song that was originally featured on the critically acclaimed Division Bell album.
Talking about the inspiration for the ‘Hey Hey Rise Up’ release Gilmour commented, “Any war, but particularly a war that is started by a world superpower against an independent democratic nation, has got to raise enormous anger and frustration in one. As I said before, I have a small connection there; my daughter-in-law is from Ukraine. And the band Boombox are Ukrainian people that I already knew, not well, but from some time ago. It’s an enormously difficult, frustrating, and anger-making thing that one human being could have the power to go into another independent democratic nation and set about killing the population. It’s just obscene to an extent that is just beyond my belief.”
‘Driving on the 44‘ is the latest release by Snowy White the former Thin Lizzy guitarist who is closely associated with Pink Floyd. From 1977’s “In The Flesh” and 1980-81’s “The Wall” tours, and later as a member of Roger Waters’ touring band from the 1990s’ “The Wall Live In Berlin” to 2016’s “Desert Trip,”
‘Driving on the 44‘ Released today July 22nd, 2022, is the first album in 3 years from Snowy White, known for his very own ‘English‘ blues style, which is characterized by clear, no-frills blues phrases, which he refines with harder riffs. The songs come across as very direct, human, and authentic—as if he wanted to address every listener personally. Few master this art as well as the British guitarist and singer.

To celebrate the brand new (2018 Mixed) Animals Album which is due for released on September 16th 2022 in the UK and October 7th in the US, Pink Floyd have just uploaded a video containing a new mix of Dogs to their Youtube channel.
Due for release on September 16th, Pink Floyd will release a deluxe edition reissue of their 1977 album classic, “Animals.” The limited-edition 4-disc packages will feature the remixed album on LP, CD, Blu-ray and DVD, with the Blu-ray and DVD versions delivering new hi-resolution stereo and 5.1 mixes alongside the original 1977 stereo mix.
Roger Waters The bassist and architect of the original project confirmed that the reissue features new remixes of the UK band’s tenth studio record.
After claiming he has been “banned by Dave Gilmour from posting on Pink Floyd’s Facebook page with its 30,000,000 subscribers“, Waters went on to explain the hurdles he has faced in dealing with his former bandmate in recent years.
“What precipitated this note is that there are new James Guthrie Stereo and 5.1 mixes of the Pink Floyd album, “Animals”, 1977,” begins Waters. “These mixes have languished unreleased because of a dispute over some sleeve notes that Mark Blake has written for this new release. Gilmour has vetoed the release of the album unless these liner notes are removed. He does not dispute the veracity of the history described in Mark’s notes, but he wants that history to remain secret.
“This is a small part of an ongoing campaign by the Gilmour/Samson camp to claim more credit for Dave on the work he did in Pink Floyd, 1967-1985, than is his due. Yes he was, and is, a jolly good guitarist and singer. But, he has for the last 35 years told a lot of whopping porky pies about who did what in Pink Floyd when I was still in charge. There’s a lot of ‘we did this’ and ‘we did that,’ and ‘I did this’ and ‘I did that.‘”
“I am agreeing to the release of the new ‘Animals’ remix, with the sleeve notes removed,” Waters continues. “Good work James Guthrie by the way, and sorry Mark Blake. The final draft of the liner notes was fact checked and agreed as factually correct by me, Nick and Gilmour.“ Waters then goes on to share Blake’s liner notes for the set, which fans can read on his website and official Facebook page.

Roger Waters might get his name on the marquee (and the credit that goes with it) when he tours, but that doesn’t mean the final spectacle of light and sound is entirely his brainchild.
With Waters’ long-awaited ‘This Is Not a Drill’ tour launching this week, the Pink Floyd cofounder caught up with Q104.3 New York‘s Jim Kerr to discuss how one of his most unique live shows ever came into being.
