Review: Roger Waters – The Dark Side Of The Moon Redux Live at the London Palladium
On October 6th 2023 Roger Waters released his re-imagining of Pink Floyd’s 1973 classic album titled The Dark Side of the Moon Redux. A few days later Roger would perform the album in its entirety for two evenings at the London Palladium on October 8th and 9th. Roger’s band consisted of many of which had appeared on the album itself. There was a six piece string section fronted by Gabe Noel, a few of the members from Roger’s current touring band: Jon Carin (keyboards/guitars/synth), Jonathan Wilson (guitar), Gus Seyffert (bass), Robert Walter (keyboards/organ) and Joey Waronker (drums) along with Johnny Shepherd (organ, piano, and vocals), Via Mardot on the theremin, and Azniv Korkejian on vocals.
Dedicated Pink Floyd fan Chris Rogers attended the show on the 8th of October and was generous enough to send in what he thought of the show, and some photos to go along with it. You can read Chris’ review here: CLICK HERE

Pre-Order Now: Squaring The Circle (The Story of Hipgnosis) – Region A Bluray Release
Boutique label Vinegar Syndrome has announced they are putting out the film Squaring The Circle (The Story of Hipgnosis) on bluray and it ships later this month! The bluray comes with a limited edition slip cover and is limited to 1,000 units and only available on Vinegar’s website.
Celebrated photographer, creative director and filmmaker Anton Corbijn’s first feature documentary SQUARING THE CIRCLE (THE STORY OF HIPGNOSIS) tells the story of Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey “Po” Powell, the creative geniuses behind the iconic album art design studio, Hipgnosis, responsible for some of the most recognizable album covers of all time, including “The Dark Side of the Moon” and “Band on the Run.” They formed Hipgnosis in Cambridge during the ferment of the sixties and became rock royalty during the boom time of the seventies. They conjured into existence sights that no one had previously thought possible, produced visuals which popularized music that had previously been considered fringe, and were at the white-hot center of the maddest, funniest and most creative era in the history of popular music. During this period, record companies didn’t dictate to acts like Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Paul McCartney what their LP covers should look like – Storm and Po did. They made money; they lost money. They did great things; they did silly things. They fell out bitterly; they made up. They never played a note, but they changed music. The film features brand new interviews with Roger Waters, David Gilmour & Nick Mason of Pink Floyd, Jimmy Page & Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, Paul McCartney, Peter Gabriel, Graham Gouldman of 10cc, Noel Gallagher, and many more!

Now Available: Roger Waters – The Dark Side of the Moon Redux
Now available on CD, Vinyl, and other formats is Roger Waters’ reimagined version of the 1973 Pink Floyd classic The Dark Side of the Moon titled “The Dark Side of the Moon Redux.”
When we recorded the stripped down songs for the Lockdown Sessions, the 50th anniversary of the release of The Dark Side Of The Moon was looming on the horizon. It occurred to me that The Dark Side Of The Moon could well be a suitable candidate for a similar re-working, partly as a tribute to the original work, but also to re-address the political and emotional message of the whole album.
I discussed it with Gus and Sean and when we’d stopped giggling and shouting “You must be ****ing mad” at one another we decided to
take it on. It’s turned out really great and I’m excited for everyone to hear it. It’s not a replacement for the original which, obviously, is irreplaceable. But it is a way for the seventy nine year old man to look back across the intervening fifty years into the eyes of the twenty nine year old and say, to quote a poem of mine about my Father, “We did our best, we kept his trust, our Dad would have been proud of us”. And also it is a way for me to honor a recording that Nick and Rick and Dave & I have every right to be very proud of.” – Roger Waters

Wish You Were Here – A People’s History Of Pink Floyd
Available starting October 9th is Wish You Were – A People’s History Of Pink Floyd by Richard Houghton. You may recall we gave away a copy back in June, well now they will start shipping next week! If you haven’t ordered a copy of this 448 page limited edition hardback yet, there’s still a chance to bag one at the pre-publication price of just £27.50 (plus shipping): https://spenwoodbooks.com/product/wish-you-were-here-a-peoples-history-of-pink-floyd/
Wish You Were Here – A People’s History of Pink Floyd takes the reader on a trip back in time (without the aid of acid) to the psychedelic Sixties, when London was tuning in, turning on and dropping out and when Pink Floyd were at the heart of what was happening in the music capital of the world. With concert memories going back to the earliest Floyd shows, in 1966, through to the last appearance of the band at Live 8 in London’s Hyde Park in 2005, this is the Pink Floyd story in the words of over 500 fans, with eyewitness accounts from around the globe of seeing in concert one of the most legendary bands of all time.
It’s the story of Syd Barrett’s founding of the band and of his genius and burn out; of the move by the band from the singles charts and into recording and performing the multi-million selling albums The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and The Wall; of the gruelling world tours and the increasing tension between band members Roger Waters and David Gilmour that fuelled the creative genius of the band and which continues to spark to this day, nearly 20 years since the band last played live together.
More than 300 different gigs are recalled by fans who remember the music, the light show and the aural adventure of a Pink Floyd concert along with the wine, the magic mushrooms and the window pane acid.
Floyd concerts were not captured on smartphones. Concert memories were an aural and visual experience made in the mind’s eye. Now these stories, previously shared only with family and friends, are told anew.
Written and compiled by Richard Houghton, creator of the People’s History series of music books, Wish You Were Here – A People’s History of Pink Floyd is published on 20 October 2023 by Spenwood Books.
