“Just back in the hotel following tonight’s- Sunday – performance.
Can’t wait to read what events been saying but what I’ve been avoiding but some thoughts.
Great show and performances all round. Some great choices with a couple of unexpected but throughly welcomed songs and special moments.
Wonderful venue – not as beautiful as Pompeii but lovely setting.
Some negatives though. Venue was chaotic post first ticket check and the ‘buy a token to get food/drink system’ fell apart meaning people spent over an hour queueing with a lot of people missing the first 3 – 4 songs. Loads of arguments with the staff too who seemed incompetent and caused considerable frustration. Some passionate discussions in the queue too…
Tonight’s show finished at midnight AFTER the last train so hundreds had to walk back the 35 minutes or so to the city centre.
Finally, without reading what everyone else has said and knowing whether tonight we were unlucky or not, the Italian crowd was VERY different to a UK one with many talking loudly over the music rather than an annoying one or two as you or normally get.
Glad I went as it will live long in the memory.
Loved the 5am and Black Cat double instrumental opening.
Marooned was beautiful.
Between Two Points…. wow, how bloody good is this live??? DG’s guitar was haunting but Romany’s singing… absolutely stunning…
Loved the new take on Great Gig, really works well.
New respect levels for Guy for his singing.
Scattered is as great as we all thought it’d be live but closing the show before the impromptu encore with it doesn’t work for me.
DGs vocals not as bad as I feared but struggled with a few songs.
Dark and Velvet Nights…. don’t like on record, love live.
Also, noted that I wasn’t unlucky with crowds tonight, Italian crowds are awful and I probably would never go to a gig there again.”

The Circus Maximus (Latin for greatest or largest circus, in Italian Circo Massimo) is an ancient Roman chariot racing stadium and mass entertainment venue located in Rome, Italy. Situated in the valley between the Aventine and Palatine hills, it was the first and largest stadium in ancient Rome and its later Empire. It measured 621 m (2,037 ft) in length and 118 m (387 ft) in width and could accommodate over 150,000 spectators. In its fully developed form, it became the model for circuses throughout the Roman Empire. The site is now a public park.
