It’s been reported that many fans at Roger Waters Wall shows in Holland were in shock at the shows on the 9th & 11th April when Roger produced an imitation machine gun and pointed it at the audience. (This we might add is a normal part of the show). Sadly however, on Saturday the 9th a crazed gunman killed 6 people in the Ridderhof Mall in the town of Alphen 13 miles southwest of Amsterdam by opening fire using a machine gun. Apparently some of the Dutch media were not impressed calling Roger ‘Shameful’ & ‘Insensitive’. It is not known at this time if Roger was aware of the tragedy prior to the show/s.
Thirty years ago I saw The Wall in Dortmund, which was mindblowing…. In 1990 I saw it again in Berlin, but that show could not stand in the shadow of the 1981 show. The 2010/2011 Wall-shows are right on the spot ! The music is the same, but the appearance has been fantastically updated to these times. Respect to the people responsible for this. Although I have seen 3 shows, I envy the people who will see other shows in Europe ! They are in for a treat and I can only say to them: enjoy ! It’s an amazing experience.
